Let's Wildly Speculate Over the 'Halloween' (2018) Post-Credits Scene

At the end of David Gordon Green’s extremely dope Halloween, a sequel set 40 years after John Carpenter’s original classic, one character gets the final word in the post-credits.

Or, rather, the final breath.

Warning: Spoilers for Halloween (2018) ahead.

Forty years after Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) survived her harrowing Halloween night with Michael Myers, the nightmare returns as Laurie must protect her family when Michael evades his death sentence and roams free to terrorize Haddonfield, Illinois once again.

Thankfully, Laurie isn’t alone. Her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) must put aside their family baggage to work together and face Michael if they want to see another morning.

In a twist from the original, Laurie’s four decades of training turns her into the predator and Michael Myers into the prey in the thrilling climax set in Laurie’s home. The Strodes trap Michael in Laurie’s basement, which Laurie has rigged to explode. With one last look into the black hole eyes of Michael Myers, the Strodes kill the boogeyman that’s haunted them for so long.

Or did they? As the Strodes escape in a convenient pick-up truck passing by, the film cuts back to the basement lit ablaze where Michael Myers is gone. The film ends as Allyson holds a kitchen knife in her hand.

There are no actual post-credits scenes in Halloween, but if you stick around long enough to see the Universal Pictures logo, you’ll actually hear Michael’s labored breathing. Is Michael still alive?

If Halloween is gunning for sequels, then yeah! Michael might still be alive. That’s bad news for Laurie, who just blew up her house. But it’s great news for fans of who want to see Laurie and Michael square off in one more round.

Halloween hits theaters on October 19.
