Originally celebrated as the birthplace of Laurel & Hardy, Our Gang, Harold Lloyd, and countless comedy classics, Hal Roach Studios successfully embraced the television era after World War II. Beginning in 1948, the studio became one of Hollywood's first major facilities dedicated almost entirely to television production, creating and hosting many of the most popular TV series of the decade. By 1951, it was producing approximately 1,500 hours of television programming each year, making it one of the busiest TV studios in America.
