You can use a blow dry brush on dry hair. You can spray a fine mist of volume or setting spray on dry hair. You can use a Velcro roller at the crown and then lay other sections of hair on it for root lift without curling the ends up too much. Don’t feel locked in by your hair tools! Experiment, play, and try new things. Sometimes it’ll lead you to a really great hair day!
