And we're back with another round of 100% brony produced EDM sets featuring my live performance at Midwest Bronyfest in Kansas City as well as a "highlight reel" of my Crystal Mountain Ponycon set in Salt Lake City. I'd like to thank Callum for providing and processing the footage of my MWBF set. Admittedly, I think I would have preferred just a continuous front view- idk why but that 3/4 shot is at the most awkward angle and makes it look like I'm doing some really strange arm movements lol. Regarding the "highlight reel", aside from only having raw camera audio to work with (and that we totally screwed up the contrast so it's near bitch black lmao) I mostly just wanted to showcase a couple extra artists that you can subscribe to for more pony music. And I think it serves as a nice reminder that these concerts are often way more energetic than a static recording is able to capture. Even if it doesn't look like people are moving, they certainly are- plus a sterile mix recording doesn't capture the physicality of the sub bass, the crowd hype, etc.
Anyways, both conventions were a lot of fun and if you were there you may have seen me going around hyping Cider Party & Horse Music Herald while handing out their respective business cards. In just six months, we managed to come a long way in creating new social infrastructure to support talented, underground artists, and I'd like to thank Spectra, EPT, and the rest of the HMH crew for making that possible. I'd also like to shout out Kill Screen, DJ Rod, and StrachAttack (and I think FlightRush as well) for their efforts in similarly showcasing how awesome our music community is. If you're attending any upcoming cons featuring them, let people know that those are performances you do not want to miss!

Shake them baked bads! My entry for Remix War VII. I had soooo much fun with this one! I hope the cover art isnt too dark (I think she looks cute) haha. This is actually a really upbeat track and its all thanks to Mumbles genius. Definitely pay him thanks for all his hard work. So yeah, have some more like crossbreed influenced hardcore gabber (I really have no idea lol) music. Made within 48 hours of the deadline because Im stupid.

Twenty-four hours to produce two tracks. Neither an easy nor stress-less task, but we survived. I went into the challenge with two general prompts: Make an upbeat frenchcore tune sampling a letsplay session I used to have up on this channel of me playing Outlast and some noise trap kind of song.
If I recall I got most of this done in eleven hours and then almost mentally caved when I realized I had to do the whole thing over again with a second track. Raw.
The titlecard art is just a screen from the game, which looks way too intense for how goofy the track is but whatever as much as Id love to draw something silly Id rather focus on other things and just get this uploaded. RIP Spaghetti Steve.

Hi friends, heres an hour long mix of some of my favorite brony produced tracks! Featuring both some well-aged classics as well as the fire of our insanely talented underground producers, this rapid-fire, mashup-heavy onslaught spans all the way from moombahton to drum & bass. I originally performed (more or less) the first half of this mix live (on two Kontrol F1s and a midifighter 3d) at RotLCon 2015. After a summer of (I thought) surprisingly (and admittedly depressingly) few convention DJs making an effort to showcase our communitys talented and ever growing body of producers, I cancelled the typical hardcore set I had planned for RotL to instead make an opportunity to let this music be heard. When requested to provide an hour long mix for PonyvilleFMs Legends of Equestria open server mixathon, I took the opportunity to build on my rotl mix and came up with this as the end product.
I think the biggest reason that I didnt hear as much brony produced music last year as I was hoping for is that for a long time, there hasnt been an effective means of keeping up with the quality content. Sites such as EQD are completely arbitrary and unorganized with their presentation and archives of music which makes them terribly inefficient for trying to discover new gems. However, there are a lot of us that have been very hard at work at constructing solutions to this problem. And I think that the results of those endeavors are brightly represented in the following four entities!

Ponies at Dawn: a series of albums that have recently evolved into the most significant exhibition of musical talent in the fandom. These super compilations provide an easy way to acquire large amounts of awesome brony music, and ALL of the money that you donate goes TO THE ARTISTS. A lot of the music featured in this set comes from them so if you want more check them out, and if you can toss them a dollar or two, youll get notified every time theres a new release to check out ;D

Horse Music Herald: founded a couple months ago by a team determined to see our music scene thrive like it never has before, HMH finally gives you the opportunity to sensibly follow all the best music that is currently being produced every day. On the main site, you can search for music by genre, as all of the uploads (which are the product of monitoring and choosing the best from THE ENTIRETY of the musician community without bias) are sensibly tagged. We also have twitter and tumblr mirrors so you dont even have to go out of your way to stay informed!

Cider Party: a promotional channel that spotlights the best of brony edm, as it comes out, without bias. Before this channel existed I had no idea how many incredible musicians there were. Go subscribe if you arent already and you wont be disappointed. In addition to a direct supply of high quality edm, in the future I think theres a strong chance that well see it evolve into an active netlabel that could consistently supply high quality albums with each focusing on a cohesive style allowing fans to quickly discover musicians specific to their interests.

PonyvilleFM: the oldest brony radio in the fandom, PVFM remains an excellent opportunity to explore the music of the fandom. Through their social networks, fans can reach out to DJs and express their interests. Looking for more of a certain style or genre?
