Ingfried Hoffmann, Klaus Doldinger, Emil Mangelsdorff a.o. - 007 Beat (1966, concert) Pringles78DX 2023-11-11 | Another brilliant song from the April 1966 "That Bluesy Sound" concert called "007 Beat". Composed by the king that is Ingfried Hoffmann, I'd say this is my personal take from the entire performance. And no, not just because Hoffmann composed it.It starts off with GREAT horns and has a groovy solos from Hoffmann on hammond organ and Emil Mangelsdorff on saxophone, brother of trombonist Albert Mangelsdorff who is also performing here. The part from 3:44 to 4:25 is my favorite part of the song cause it's AMAZING. There is a rehearsal that is also online recorded the day before this (April 21 1966): youtube.com/watch?v=R1yPQIzSOP8Part of me thinks that the rehearsal is better in terms of instruments, but the song itself I would say the concert version. I've also noticed a different tempo in the two performances, rehearsal is faster, concert is slower, which is quite interesting.

Performed by jazz legends Klaus Doldinger (clarinet), Ingfried Hoffmann (organ), Manfred Schoof (trumpet), Albert Mangelsdorff (trombone), Peter Trunk (bass) and Cees See (drums).This is from an April 1966 concert (audio only, screenshot is from the rehearsal) called "That Bluesy Sound". A rehearsal which occured a day prior is on my channel too. Both the full rehearsal and concert performances are on the Ingfried Hoffmann Archive (link in comments). As for which version is better, I honestly can't decide (maybe this version but i love the rehearsal too).A song that isn't composed by Hoffmann for once, but my goodness is it catchy. We have awesome solos from Mangelsdorff on trombone, Schoof brilliantly playing the trumpet, Doldinger rocking out on his clarinet, and Trunk providing an excellent part on bass. Strangely no other instruments are heard during Trunk's solo. The beginning and end parts (idk what you'd call them in music terms, 0:33-1:09 and 5:37-6:11) sound phenomenal, my personal take from the whole song. I gotta say as well, the change in tune at the end is AMAZING (6:25).

I'll include a link to the full concert in the comments.With EPIC solos from trumpeters William McKay and Hans Thomas (in particular McKay), this song is the definition of the word jazz. It has a fantastic beat and solo from Erich Bachträgl. I can see from Erich's face that the song was his workout for the day! It's got smooth bass from Helmut Kandelberger as well. Not to mention Ingfried Hoffmann's MASTERFUL piano skills too.A little side note: The more I've listened to Hoffmann's work inside and outside of Sesamstraße, the more I've noticed how inspired Sesamstraße songs are from these jazz songs.
