Ethan McIntyre This 3-second clip from a home video has puzzled me throughout my entire life. It appears to have been recorded accidentally when someone left the tape in the VCR during my childhood. Around 2002-2003, I noticed and removed the recording tab from the tape.

In 2021, I sought answers on Reddit's r/TOMT, where we identified some crucial details: the network logo in the corner and the guitar used in the clip. The New Country Network (NCN), which ran from January 1, 1995, to October 31, 1996, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is where this mystery begins. The guitar featured is a Parker Fly, released in 1993, narrowing our search to a 3-4 year window between 1993 and 1996.

Further clues point to the likelihood that this clip was recorded around February 1996. Shortly after this mysterious clip, there's footage from a curling tournament, identified by r/lostwave as the 1996 Scott's Tournament of Hearts, which took place from February 17 to 25, 1996. Further analysis narrowed the exact date down to February 20, 1996.

Despite my efforts, no music identifying app, including Shazam, has been able to recognize this elusive tune due to its brevity. I've reached out to various online communities, from WatZatSong.com to TikTok and Facebook, but the song remains unidentified.

Ethan McIntyre 2023-12-05 | This snippet is a glimpse into a 4-hour-long family home video capturing my early years, the very VHS that contains the "world was so easy" clip (which begins at 1:14). In response to numerous requests, I've decided to share the minutes leading up to and following the "world was so easy" clip.

In this upload, you'll witness the minute preceding the clip and what unfolds on the tape afterward. The footage returns to a scene of me lying on a bed, followed by a segment identified as part of the 1996 Scot Tournament of Hearts. After that, it cuts back to pure family home videos, uninterrupted until the end of the tape.

I want to mention that my brother was the one holding the camera in the first video clip. You can hear him saying, "Say bye-bye to the camera," and then my mom in the background saying, "Why is this wet? He pissed on-" before getting interrupted by the mystery video clip.

While I can't pinpoint the exact date of the original video that was recorded over, it likely falls between December 1993 and January 1994, considering I was born in December 1993 and appear to be a small baby in the video footage. The video of the Scott Tournament of Hearts was recorded on February 20, 1996, and New Country Network (NCN) operated from January 1, 1995, to October 31, 1996. This implies that the "world was so easy" clip was recorded approximately two years after the original video it replaced.

Ethan McIntyre 2023-11-12 | A reupload of my previous video. This video was captured on a different VCR as the other one, but contains less information than the previous lower quality video. I used the method demonstrated by Technology Connections in this video (youtu.be/ZC5Zr3NC2PY) to capture the original tape and ended up with a 1080p recording. I put that video into remini.ai to enhance it and this is the result it gave me.

Ethan McIntyre 2013-01-21 | This is a recording of the late Father Bertrand Mathieu (January 5th, 1923 - July 16th, 2011) saying the rosary in the Denesułiné language. I used to work at the radio station in Patuanak, SK: CPAT and this was (and still is) played at the beginning of every morning show. I got the file from the computer at the radio station a couple years ago and the picture is from the Globe and Mail article about his passing (http://soc.li/Kl4NldG).
