R.O.B's gyro does a lot more than just throw into laser. The knock back and trajectory of the gyro is what makes it so great and so good in getting kill confirms into smash attacks/aerials and leading into multiple strings of aerials/ground attacks. The gyro stays active for a long time on the ground which can help set up a jab lock.
