The Lighting Workshop presented through a collaborative effort between GVM and Adorama features Stephen St. Peter and Cory Warner both distinguished instructors. Our dedicated aim is to empower the next generation of filmmakers and passionate photographers by providing insights from the pinnacle of Hollywood's professional lighting and cinematography knowledge. This enables participants to delve into the intricacies of professional lighting techniques.

Stephen and Cory will cover:

⚫️ Basic Lighting Teaching
Understanding foundational principles and techniques in lighting for cinematography and photography.

⚫️ Classic Film Scene Filming Teaching
Analyzing classic film scenes to understand lighting techniques used for impactful visual storytelling.

⚫️ Live Lighting Setup and Teaching
Hands-on sessions using a range of lighting equipment provided by GVM and Adorama, guided by Stephen St. Peter and Cory Warner to demonstrate step-by-step lighting setups and instructional filming.

About the Presenters

⚪ Cinematographer, Stephen St. Peter

Stephen St. Peter is an accomplished cinematographer based in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of The American Film Institute, His work has received global recognition at over 50 film festivals including: SXSW, TIFF, Raindance.

One of Stephen's recent notable projects is the 14 time award winning "Infraction," which is based on a true story about a Philadelphia native Terrence Lewis who spent 21 years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit.

In addition to his short films, Stephen has also served as the cinematographer for eight feature films, some of his notable projects include:
"Best Man," starring Luke Wilson and Dolph Lundgren, which premiered number 1 HULU
"Dig," starring Thomas Jane and Emile Hirsch,
"Helen’s Dead," featuring Annabelle Dexter-Jones and Tyrese Gibson "Saturday at the Starlight," which stars Abigail Brisling and Mike Madsen.

Stephen considers himself fortunate to work in the film industry, where he brings stories to life through his camera lens. He is a strong advocate for social justice, a theme that often resonates in his work. Stephen believes that cinema offers a unique window into the human condition and that it can ultimately unite us through greater understanding.

As a lecturer, Stephen St. Peter brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, showcasing his remarkable talent and insight into cinematography, which will undoubtedly enrich and inspire participants at the workshop.

⚪ Cinematographer, Cory Warner

Cory Warner is a Cinematographer whose films have played at/on HULU, AFI Fest, and LA Shorts, among other platforms and film festivals. He has shot music videos for Robin Thicke, Maren Morris, and Cozz, along with a handful of other talented musicians. Cory is an MFA Graduate in Cinematography from the American Film Institute 2014 and shot the silver medal 2015 Student Academy Award Winning Film, “This Way Upˮ, that he lensed for Director, Jeremy Cloe. Additionally, Cory is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at Loyola Marymount University in the School of Film/TV teaching Advanced Cinematography and Cinematography Masterclasses. Cory is a hardworking and collaborative filmmaker with a strong eye for lighting, composition, and camera movement. Cory was raised in the mountains of West Virginia where he developed a love for stories that involve values and a strong sense of community.
