In this video, I’m putting traditional Gutta Resist to the test against several alternative products to see what actually works when creating designs on silk!
Gutta is a tried-and-true resist for silk painting, but it can be expensive, messy, and sometimes difficult to work with. So I wanted to experiment with some easier-to-find alternatives and see how they compare.
We’ll test different products for things like:
✨ How easily they apply
✨ How well they stop dye from spreading
✨ How clean the finished lines look
✨ How they hold up throughout the process
✨ And whether any of them could actually replace traditional Gutta
Some may work beautifully…and others might be a complete fail! 😅 But that’s what experimenting is all about.
My hope is that these videos help take some of the guesswork out of creating your own hand-painted silks and gives you more options when choosing supplies.
