While my own exploration of the steel string acoustic guitar has concentrated primarily on instruments from North America and in one case South Africa, I have long been aware of the work of guitar luthiers from the UK and Ireland - in an effort to learn more I have enlisted the help of folk legend @MartinSimpsonOfficial who has championed the cause of handmade guitars on both sides of the Atlantic for decades.
In the first episode of this series we look at an instrument from Roger Bucknall of @FyldeGuitars50 that was recently custom made for Martin. It's a Falstaff model in African Blackwood and Adirondack Spruce with a 13 fret neck like all the cool kids have these days.
It is always a tremendous pleasure and privilege to speak to Martin Simpson about anything at all but in particular the instruments that have inspired him throughout his life.
