Circle progressions, circular progression or circle of fifths progressions are very strong chord progressions based on the V – I (dominant – tonic) relationship as seen in the circle of fifths. They where used in the Baroque era by composers as Bach, Vivaldi and Händel, but also in Jazz and Rock they are still often used. Bach used circle progressions all the time and example is the Brandenburg concerts.
