The warm weather of early hunting season presents some unique challenges for the backcountry hunter but, in my opinion, none are more important than proper care of meat in warm weather. During archery elk hunting season, temperatures often reach into mid to upper 80s or more. In this video we’re going to look at what causes meat spoilage, and how to prevent it so you can get that hard earned wild game meat back home and in the freezer in great condition. We'll look at some real world scenarios and try to answer the question of how long will meat last in the field without refrigeration. I'll also give you some tips and tricks for meat care and discuss the importance of quality game bags when packing out a deer or elk. Whether you're just now learning how to hunt or you're just new to early season bow hunting, you're bound to pick up some tips from this video.
