In Summer 2022, the Cayo Perico Heist received its first (overdue, yet excessive) nerf: the cooldown times before being able to pay the Setup Cost was extended from 10m to 48m, or 2h24m if you completed your last finale solo. Furthermore, the rates & values or Primary & Secondary Targets would vary, depending on whether or not you waited 72 real world hours after completing your finale and paying the Setup Cost again. The result was Hard Mode being a 60% chance of stealing Sinsimito Tequila.

In Winter 2022, it was updated again so that Guards would raise the alarm if they discovered a dispatched ally. This was a big one, as for the two years the Heist had been in the game, you were free to eliminate any guards you liked, so long as they weren't nearby an ally who would also need to be dealt with before raising the alarm.

And this is where I made a huge oversight in the intended design. Prior to this fix, the likes of Guard Uniforms just made things more relaxed, and Bolt Cutters I always wrote off as as-quiet as the Cutting Torch which made noise that only nearby guards would hear... that was a mistake, the Bolt Cutters are the top-tier way of opening doors.

The moment I came to terms with this under the Guards Detect Bodies mindset, that changed the likes of Guard Uniforms from a helpful option to a necessity for a successful Heist - as Rockstar would've intended.

Shame it got nerfed back in September 2023 with all the payouts reduced and the rate of Coke getting nerfed in the solo-friendly locations.
