In this video, Me and a few friends have produced our fourth movie chase remake, leading on from the "Modern Italian Job", "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "James Bond". This time, the chase is based on the British action movie, "The Sweeney".
The Sweeney used to be a TV programme many years ago, and just recently, an entire film was released that was based around the old TV programmes, but not exactly. "The Sweeney" is a cockney term used for the Police Flying Squad, a unit known for their violent yet successful methods of bringing down enemies.
Without going into too much detail on the film itself, the scene we're attempting to remake is the final chase at the end of the movie, where Regan and Carter are chasing terrorist threats, Francis Allen and Makin Trebolt from Graves End, where they were attempting to escape by boat, to an old caravan park where the chase ends.
The beginning of our chase is where Makin Trebolt and Francis Allen are trying to flee and escape after being ambushed by The Sweeney (Regan and Carter). They manage to escape the boat (Named "The Pegasus") and escape to their car. Attempting to flee, they manage to get out of the pier only to realise Regan and Carter are right on their tale. This is where the chase begins!
It's hard to explain the entire story within a few paragraphs, so if you haven't seen the film then I recommend you do, as it's superb! And if you have, hopefully you understand what part of the film we're recreating.
Of course, in GTA 4, Liberty City faces many differences compared to London, some obvious differences being they drive on the left in London and on the right in Liberty City, and that Caravan Parks are more commonly found in Britain compared to America, which is why Liberty City has none! So we had to be creative when thinking of solutions, and we think we've managed them well. The main problems we felt we needed to sort out were the Cars, and the Locations.
The Locations that feature in the actual movie are a small pier, a small country side road and a caravan park, all of which (apart from the pier) are impossible to find in GTA 4. So for the caravan park, we used Middle Park, due to it being one of the largest areas of Grass in GTA 4 (Like a caravan park), and for it having some interesting structures such as small tunnels, fountains, huts, etc...
The cars used in the actual movie are a Ford Focus ST, which Regan and Carter drive to chase Francis Allen and Trebolt, who are in a Jaguar XFR. So we had two cars that were hard to link into GTA 4, but we found a solution. For the Ford Focus ST, we used a Serrano, due to its shape and handling, much like that of the Ford Focus ST, easy to manoeuvre, quick and agile. For the Jaguar XFR, the obvious choice seemed the F620, however we've imitated this car as an Aston Martin in our "James Bond" chase, so we thought it would be strange to imitate this car as two different cars in real life. So we thought we'd put an American twist on things and imitate the Buffalo as the Jaguar XFR, as it's very heavy round corners, a big and strong car and also very fast.
Recreating a gritty, British car chase in a sunny, American city (Such as Liberty City) was never going to be easy to recreate exact, which is why we've made these changes due to recreating them would be nearly impossible on the Console version of GTA 4.
This is the first GTA 4 TBOGT video I've created and uploaded this year, and I really wanted it to be special. So although we only had a short period of time to film, I've spent the last month filming, and mostly editing due to the limited amount of time I've had due to various reasons. Also, this is most likely our last GTA 4 TBOGT Movie Chase remake, due to GTA 5 coming out later this year, so I wanted to make our last movie chase remake one to remember, so please enjoy it for what it is! There is most likely a few mistakes, but if there are I hope you can look past them and just enjoy the video!
