The shellbane gryphon is the boss version of gryphons found in a cave in the centre of the Great Conch, requiring level 51 Slayer and completion of Troubled Tortugans ( my guide: youtu.be/vuvwE8m8nHg ) to kill. As a Slayer boss, it may only be killed while on a gryphons Slayer task, or when in possession of an elite clue step telling the player to kill the shellbane gryphon. Gryphon slayer tasks must be unlocked by purchasing the 'Wings Spread' reward from a slayer master for 80 Slayer Points in order to be assigned them by Nieve/Steve or Duradel/Kuradal, though this unlock is not required for the shellbane gryphon to be assigned as a boss task from those slayer masters. Dropping the elite clue scroll while in the cave will delete the item. Konar quo Maten can also assign the shellbane gryphon specifically when she assigns a boss task.

Elder Nama at the cave entrance enforces these rules, and also acts as a scoreboard for the boss, displaying the player's statistics for the fight as well as global statistics.

The Shellbane gryphon drops the tarnished Belle's folly, which can be repaired into Belle's folly with 70 Smithing at the polishing wheel inside the Giants' Foundry.

The shellbane gryphon is a solo instanced fight. Once a slayer task has been completed, it will no longer respawn, preventing you from fighting it off-task.
