It is called grounding or Earthing. Making barefoot contact with grass, soil, sand, and I think even cement and bricks causes you to be grounded, electrically. The Earth produces a positive electrical charge, and your body a negative. So when you ground, the Earth removes your negative electrical charge, and this helps reduce inflammation, lowers blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. I thought it was a bunch of hippy nonsense until I did some research into it.
