Airservices has implemented the Honeywell SmartPath Ground Based Augmentation System, otherwise known as GBAS, to bring the benefits of satellite-based precision landing to the aviation industry.
GBAS works by correcting errors in GPS signals to provide pilots flying suitably equipped aircraft with more accurate vertical and horizontal guidance to the runway.
The system provides more efficient and predictable approaches and is a critical component of Australia’s next generation air traffic management infrastructure.
