Rattlesnake Canyon is a scenic area in western Colorado, in the Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness, near Grand Junction and Fruita. It has the world’s second-largest concentration of arches in the United States, after Arches National Park. The Arches are accessible only by a 4x4 vehicle drive or a 14-mile round-trip trek from a trailhead west of Grand Junction. The main arches are best visible from the Rattlesnake Arches Upper and Lower Trails.

The Ancient Maya City-state of Palenque was at its height between 500 and 750 AD. After that Palenque gradually declined and was overgrown by the jungle at the end. Today the Palenque archeological site has well-preserved Mayan ruins and is one of the most famous and visited Maya sites, it is located in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Palenque is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Göbekli Tepe is a Neolithic archaeological site in Southeastern Turkey, which is widely considered the oldest known religious complex, sometimes described as the zero point of history. The site was built by nomadic hunter-gatherers more than 11,000 years ago, not for shelter, but as a ritual site. It has been in use for more than a thousand years, attracting worshipers from far away. The monumental architecture at Göbekli Tepe presents humanitys oldest known monumental megalithic structures, predating those at Stonehenge by some 6,000 years.
Göbekli Tepe is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kharanaq (meaning Place of birth of the sun) is a ghost town, one hour driving away from Yazd in Iran. Kharanaq has been inhabited for approximately 4,000 years, but the remaining dilapidated adobe (mud-brick) buildings that attract travelers from around the world, date back up to one thousand years. The inhabitants left Kharanaq when water supplies dried up, and the town turned to ruins.
