Groovedeep - Funk Solo (Shed Remix)
Stream & Buy - turborec.lnk.to/FunkSoloRemixes
There was a regrettable time in Turbo’s history when our email filters would prevent anything called Groovedeep from reaching our senior A&R braintrust. We felt we needed to shield their sensibilities and sanity from demos by acts like The Rhythm Pilgrims and Loop Addict, but it ended up costing us potential stars like SonicVisions and Beatweaver. Someone had to stand up and say no more.
With this benighted era behind us, Turbo is proud of itself for presenting you with the decidedly modern banger Funk Solo, from international supergroup Groovedeep, comprised of Toronto’s Ciel and DC’s James Bangura and Jackson Ryland. After a flourishing response to the OG mix, we're here to hit you with a trio of remixes just in time for your spring fling.
Timedance head Batu provides a remix that slathers on bass-boosted ultrasound gel and nestles into the club sub-woofer where the low frequencies massage our kidneys and sacrum and the twinned demons of treble and vision cannot touch us.
Shed is inseparable from the pillars of Berlin techno, having formed deep bonds with institutions like Hard Wax and Ostgut Ton over of decades of dedication to the scene. To make his Turbo debut, he cuts deep into the groove with his heads-down-eyes-closed take on Funk Solo.
Mark Broom is about as prolific as it gets in this world of dance music, making a breed of techno track that seems to end up in anyone+everyone's deejay sets. He was number one on the remix hit list for this one, and Mark sure has answered the call with pure power, per usual. Our ace in the hole to round out this killer-no-filler 12".

Tiga & Kölsch - Hand In Hand - Faxman [Turbo 222]
Stream & Buy - https://tiga.lnk.to/HandInHandRebukeRemix
Following the fevered reception of their 2018 single “HAL,” the union between main stage lovemaker Kölsch and techno iceman Tiga has returned with “Hand in Hand,” a rapturous exercise in sacral catharsis that many are calling the ultimate set closer.
Emboldened to use his natural speaking voice for the first time on the title track, Tiga is eager to open up about this sentimental departure from his usual fare: “When it comes down to it, I’m an emotional frogman, When I hear a beating heart, I dive right in heart-first.”
Meanwhile, B-side “Almost Everything” takes the vibe into Kölsch’s signature indescribable euphoric heights. So indescribable in fact that we had to ask BO, Turbo’s proprietary AI and Metadata Scraper, to analyze the track based on tempo, emotional valence, and “fun factor”. His conclusion: “Total banger.” Thanks, BO!
The release is rounded out by two remixes of “Hand in Hand,” one a bout of peak-time insanity from Irish underground icon Rebuke and the other an immaculate techno odyssey from Montreal hinterground luminary Priori.
Reflecting on just what he’s achieved here with his Danish friend Kölsch, Tiga is characteristically thoughtful: “Would you rather have a gun in your hand, or a hand in your hand? If you even have to think about the answer, you need to open your heart ASAFP because nothing less than the future of love and music hangs in the balance. It’s entirely up to you.

Turbo 25 [Turbo 225]
Stream & Buy - http://www.turborec.lnk.to/Turbo.25
In December of 2022, with Turbo Recordings nearing the cusp of its 25th year, label Owner, Founder and Executive Vision Honcho Tiga sent out an urgent missive to friends and collaborators across the globe:
SEND ME ONE AWESOME TRACK AND LETS GET RICH BABYCAKES. SEND ME FILLER AND YOUR PERSONAL CONTACT INFO GOES STRAIGHT INTO THE TURBO DISCORD SO YOU CAN ‘CONNECT WITH OUR FANS.”
This brazen threat spoke to the hearts of some of dance music’s greatest talents, who within days gathered outside Tiga’s Montreal fortress carrying thumb drives bursting with melody, rhythm, and more than a little timbre. Now, after months of brutal attrition and line-crossing personal rejection, we are proud to present you with the very best of the best.
While the mere mention of a label compilation is enough to get anyone’s imagination rock-hard, just consider some of the names involved. From legends like Soulwax (as 2manydjs), Matias Aguayo, Jori Hulkkonen, The Hacker, Seth Troxler, and Audion to modern masters like Cora Novoa, Disfreq, Nikki Nair, Fedele, Mathame (and many more), Turbo 25 spans soundscapery from the label’s rich past, rich present, and VR-heavy future. It stands as an unqualified triumph of networking, goodwill toward men, and Dropbox.
As Turbo Recordings joins the long-lived ranks of Northrop Grumman, the Carlyle Group, and HSBC Malta, this corporate anniversary presents an opportunity for reflection, a chance to bask in the refractory glow before the next 25 years of our label bring about Paradise on Earth. Maybe all of this culminates with every single Turbo artist ever DJing and dancing alongside world leaders and Web3 visionaries at the Hadron Collider main stage. Maybe it’s finally time to release Tiga and Manu Chaos reggaefied hip-house stomper, “Get Vertical.” Literally anything is possible.
Onward into 2023-2048, Phase 2 of 10.
