The other day I went for one of my normal trail rides but ended it with a stop by our nearby Kroger Grocery store to get a few things we needed. Discovered that the pannier dropout bags on my Topeak MTX Trunk bag aren’t much for big grocery shopping trips. Fit what I bought but not much room to spare. My whole ride ended up being 20 miles exactly, bringing my July total to 145.5 miles and my total miles since April 23rd to 602.7 miles. My goal is to do at least 200 miles a month so I’m afraid I’m not going to make that for July.

I tried two new things in making this video. I wear my Apple Watch when riding and turn on cycling workout. The watch then records my rides with lots of accompanying data including a map. The free app (Pro version has a subscription payment), Relive, will read that info and generate a 3D map video of the ride. Second, I record my rides using my Insta360 X3 camera. I typically run the camera like a dash camera when I’m in traffic and I didn’t intend to make a video of this ride. I usually delete the footage right after the ride but today, since I went to Kroger, I kept it. So my second experiment was to try out the Insta360 iPhone app’s AI feature for parsing a 360 video and creating regular 16:9 video clips. It adds music and fast cuts. Those clips make up the first part of this video.
