1️⃣ 𝗞𝗡𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗥
The "𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗭𝗟𝗬" knife roller is intended for intensive grinding of post-harvest residue after corn and rapeseed as well as green mass of aftercrop plants.
The “𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗭𝗟𝗬” is especially good in the fight against the corn borer beetle that lives in corn stubble. By crushing the stubble, which is the beetle’s natural habitat, its chances of survival are greatly reduced.
The “𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗭𝗟𝗬” is most effective at speeds between 15 and 20 km/h. At this speed, “𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗭𝗟𝗬” can reach a capacity of up to 15 hectares/hour and thus far surpasses mower-type implements, which only work above ground and thus do not ensure the same degree of mulching.
Plant residues and stubble are cut into 10-15 cm lengths, crushed and pressed into the ground, which accelerates the activation of microorganisms and the degradation of plant residues.
One of the challenges in rapeseed stubble cultivation is not to bury the fine rapeseed too deep. If they are buried too deep, there is a risk that they will go into dormancy (seminal dormancy). In this condition, the rapeseed can germinate for several years. For this reason, it is essential to only work ultra-shallowly when cultivating rape stubble.
This is no longer a problem with the "𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗭𝗟𝗬" knife roller. Due to the special blade geometry, the blades do not penetrate deeper than 2 cm into the ground.
This gives you enough soil movement to stimulate the grains to germinate, to mix the organic material on the surface and, on the other hand, to save valuable soil water.
2️⃣ 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗥
The Cambridge rollers are well known universal machines to provide perfect soil contact, for example during seedbed preparation or when rolling fields of grain damaged by frost.
This construction of Cambridge rollers are available with Cambridge rings in two working widths from 10.5 m and 12.3 m.
3️⃣ 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗥
Roller-crimpers are perhaps the most important equipment for organic no-tillers to own, as they let growers terminate cover crops without chemicals and lay down thick mulch to smother weeds.
The advantages of crimpers are they kill cover crops mechanically, suppress weeds by forming a mulch, decrease hot summer soil temperatures, conserve soil moisture, decreases soil erosion, and add organic matter.
The blades are positioned and curved in a “chevron” pattern at a special angle to reduce bouncing, soil movement, and to increase maximum plant stem crimping pressure.
As the barrel rotates the pressure on the blades splits from the centre and moves outwards laying over and “crimping” vegetation, bruising the stalk of the plant and effectively stunting or shutting down the plant.
