Everything Outdoors NM | Grizzly eating Bison in the middle of the Yellowstone River @EverythingOutdoorsNM | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 9 hours ago.
Cool story behind this grizzly and the Bison.
It started with 2 raging bull Bison battling it out in the middle of the Yellowstone River. It was the peak of the rut for Bison. They were fighting for their right to mate. It’s not uncommon for these huge animals to sustain severe injuries during these brutal battles. That was the case here. The bear didn’t kill the Bison. The Bison was killed by another Bison.
It don’t take long for a grizzly to smell a rotting carcass. Even in a River. A large male grizzly appears out of the trees. Ready to claim his prize. But he’s not the only one. Another large male grizzly appears. Another battle begins in the middle of the Yellowstone River. The 2 bears get caught up in the current. Pushing them into the rapids. All the while ripping, tearing, biting, and clawing each other. Out of sight of the spectators. Several minutes later one bear returns. The Victor. Earning him the name Victor the Grizzly.
A nice lady in Yellowstone told me the story. I don’t know if this bear is Victor, but I like to think so.
