Today is a bear-y good day — it’s #WorldBearDay! 🐻
To celebrate, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how our male grizzly bear cubs are doing. ‘Fitz’ (the lighter cub) and ‘Turner’ (the darker cub) are growing fast and have been participating in training sessions with our dedicated Animal Care, Health & Welfare team. 🫶
Training is an important part of animal care and is always voluntary, giving the bears choice and control in how they participate. Using positive reinforcement, it helps build trust and strong relationships with their care team, while supporting both their physical and behavioural wellbeing. It also supports the cubs in participating in their own care — from routine health checks to day-to-day husbandry — in ways that are low-stress, engaging, and aligned with their natural behaviours.
Later this spring, the cubs will move into the main habitat, where guests will be able to see them for the first time. 🌻
