Site of Civil War Memorial commemorating 148,000 soldiers from New York enlisted in the Union Cause.
The memorial is on “The Plateau” or “Battle Hill” which is the highest point in Brooklyn at 220ft and the site of the largest engagement in the Revolutionary War which was the Battle of Brooklyn. The British defeated the outnumbered American forces and controlled New York City for the remainder of the war.
