In this video we will take a trip to Greenfield Village, Dearborn Michigan. We will check out the Detroit & Lima Northern Railway. At the Marshall, Michigan Roundhouse and Turntable. I will take you inside the cab and see the smoke coming off the firebox. Watch the locomotive engineer / conductor add water to the tender. Empty the ash pan and turn the engine on the turntable. I will take you where most of the tourist do not go. So all aboard for a train adventure with Train Room Gary. ▶︎ This video is for ages 14 & up
The Roundhouse
Steam locomotives required constant maintenance from an army of skilled and unskilled workers, and the roundhouse is where that work took place. This roundhouse was built in 1884 in Marshall, Michigan, for the Detroit, Toledo & Milwaukee Railroad. Today it services the locomotives and equipment of Greenfield Village's Weiser Railroad.
