LYRICS
"Are We The Waiting"
Coming from the gloomy “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, “Are We The Waiting” is a soliloquy where Jesus of Suburbia meditates his current state. It is a slow paced song with pounding drums that, with its lyrics, showcases how our main character is starting to lose his mind. It follows the same theme of loneliness as the previous track an shows how Jesus feels lost in the city he has run to.
[Instrumental Intro]
[Verse 1]
Starry nights, city lights coming down over me
Skyscrapers and stargazers in my head
[Pre-Chorus]
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
This dirty town was burning down in my dreams
Lost and found, city-bound in my dreams, and screaming
[Chorus]
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting, and screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting
[Verse 2]
Forget me nots, second thoughts live in isolation
Heads or tails, fairytales in my mind
[Pre-Chorus]
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
The rage and love, the story of my life
The Jesus of Suburbia is a lie, and screaming
[Chorus]
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting, and screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting, and screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
"St.Jimmy"
“St. Jimmy” abruptly cuts the previous song “Are We the Waiting”; it shows how Jesus of Suburbia has officially gone off the deep end. In his loneliness, Jesus of Suburbia now manifests his rage into a new identity; he has now created an alter ego, in fact, a dual personality called St. Jimmy.
The previous two tracks have been slow and thoughtful to reflect Jesus of Suburbia’s introspective mental state, however, this track obliterates that melancholy feel. “St Jimmy” is a substantially harder and faster song, giving it more of a punk rock feel reminiscent of Green Day’s previous works. This marks a pivotal point in Jesus of Suburbia’s story arc and in the album itself.
[Intro: Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool]
St. Jimmy's comin' down across the alleyway
Up on the boulevard like a zip gun on parade
Light of a silhouette, he's insubordinate
Coming at you on the count of one, two
One, two, three, four!
[Verse 1: Billie Joe Armstrong]
My name is Jimmy and you better not wear it out
Suicide commando that your momma talked about
King of the forty thieves, and I'm here to represent
The needle in the vein of the establishment
[Chorus: Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, Both]
I'm the patron saint of the denial
With an angel face and a taste for suicidal
[Verse 2: Billie Joe Armstrong]
Cigarettes and ramen and a little bag of dope
I am the son of a bitch and Edgar Allan Poe
Raised in the city under a halo of lights
The product of war and fear that we've been victimized
[Chorus: Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, Both]
I'm the patron saint of the denial
With an angel face and a taste for suicidal
[Post-Chorus: Billie Joe Armstrong]
Are you talking to me?
I'll give you something to cry about

St. Jimmy!
[Instrumental Break & Guitar Solo]
[Bridge: Billie Joe Armstrong]
My name is St. Jimmy, I'm a son of a gun
I'm the one that's from the way outside (St. Jimmy)
I'm a teenage assassin executing some fun
In the cult of the life of crime (St. Jimmy)
I'd really hate to say it but I told you so
So shut your mouth before I shoot you down, ol' boy (St. Jimmy)
Welcome to the club and give me some blood
I'm the resident leader of the lost and found (St. Jimmy)
[Outro: Billie Joe Armstrong]
It's comedy and tragedy
It's St. Jimmy, and that's my name
And don't wear it out

LYRICS
[Verse 1: Chester Bennington]
Graffiti decorations under a sky of dust
A constant wave of tension on top of broken trust
The lessons that you taught me, I learned were never true
[Pre-Chorus: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
Now I find myself in question
They point the finger at me again
Guilty by association
You point the finger at me again
[Chorus: Chester Bennington]
I wanna run away, never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers, no more lies
I wanna shut the door and open up my mind
[Verse 2: Chester Bennington]
Paper bags and angry voices under a sky of dust
Another wave of tension has more than filled me up
All my talk of taking action, these words were never true
[Pre-Chorus: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
Now I find myself in question
They point the finger at me again
Guilty by association
You point the finger at me again
[Chorus: Chester Bennington]
I wanna run away, never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers, no more lies
I wanna shut the door and open up my mind
[Bridge: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
Im gonna run away and never say goodbye
Gonna run away, gonna run away
Gonna run away, gonna run away
Im gonna run away and never wonder why
Gonna run away, gonna run away
Gonna run away, gonna run away
Im gonna run away and open up my mind
Gonna run away, gonna run away
Mind (Gonna run away, gonna run away)
Mind (Gonna run away, gonna run away)
Mind (Gonna run away, gonna run away)
[Chorus: Chester Bennington]
I wanna run away, never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers, no more lies
I wanna shut the door and open up my mind

From self-titled album: Paramore (2013)
LYRICS
[Verse 1]
Why do you care what people think?
Are you hooked up to their leash?
You know anklebiters
Ate up your personality
Try to remember how it felt
To just make up your own steps
And let anklebiters
Chew up, spit out someone else
Fall in love with yourself
[Chorus]
Because someday you’re gonna be the only one you’ve got
Someday you’re gonna be the only one you’ve got
Why you wanna please the world and leave yourself to drop dead?
Someday you’re gonna be the only one you’ve got
[Verse 2]
What do you actually expect
A broken mirror to reflect?
You know, anklebiters gave you a false perception
And why do I defend your ignorance?
Oh, why do I defend the state youre in?
You should fall in love with yourself
Oh, again
Fall in love with yourself
[Chorus]
Because someday you’re gonna be the only one you’ve got
Someday you’re gonna be the only one you’ve got
Why you wanna please the world and leave yourself to drop dead?
Someday you’re gonna be the only one you’ve got
[Outro]
Anklebiters! Anklebiters!
Someday you’re gonna be alone
