A compilation of three old VHS videos taken at the Great Central Railway, UK back in 1992.
The videos, recorded in June, November and December 1992 feature the following locomotives:
LMS 4-6-0 'Jubilee' class number 5690 'Leander'. Currently operational in BR Black livery on the main line. No longer at the GCR.
BR 0-6-0T Class Y7 number 68088. Currently based at the Mid-Suffolk Railway awaiting overhaul.
BR 4-6-2 Class 'Merchant Navy' number 35005 'Canadian Pacific'. The locomotive moved to the Mid Hants Railway in 2006 where its boiler certificate expired in 2008. Currently undergoing a very protracted overhaul at Eastleigh Works.
BR 2-8-0T Class 52XX number 5224. The former GWR locomotive was acquired by Pete Waterman in 1998 and ran on several heritage lines before moving to Crewe. It is currently under restoration.
BR 4-6-2 Class A2 60532 'Blue Peter'. The locomotive was a visitor to the railway in 1992. It was withdrawn from service at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and it has not run since.
BR 4-6-2 Class 'West Country' number 34039 ('Boscastle'). At the time of filming the locomotive had only just returned to service after a very long restoration and was yet to be renamed. After problems with the firebox and boiler in the late 1990s the locomotive was withdrawn from traffic in 2000. It is hoped the 34039 will steam again in 2022.
