Herons catch and eat huge things. I use the word things because they’ll stab anything they can with that sharp, spear-like beak. This one managed to pull an armored catfish from the swampy drink, one of the largest I’ve ever seen.
The real question: does the heron actually eat this thing? My past experience says yes. But we’ll never know, because this bird eventually took its new dinosaur fish friend on a sunset tour of the swamp before disappearing behind a curtain of sunbathed Spanish moss. The frogs announced the final act in their own chorus of sound.
