In this part, Shamspeare takes the stand to testify about the inconsistency with the tea. He claims that the tea the police analyzed came from his own cup, which had no poison. He claims that that poison was in Mr. Natsume's cup.
Ryunosuke counters this claim, by presenting the cups. Natsume's cup does not have a tea ring, indicating he drank it immediately. Van Zieks comes to Shamespeare's rescue, saying that there was some leftover tea in the pot. That must be the source of the poisoned tea.
The jury agrees with Van Zieks, and they declare Mr. Natsume is guilty. Ryunosuke calls for a summation examination, and he presses some of the jurors' statements.
