That is, the device shows everything in the room that the victim has touched. The victim has often touched the sides of a painting, as well as a floorboard. The painting doesn't hide anything, but the floorboard covers a secret hiding place with an empty tin box, a photograph, and a newspaper article. The article is about the criminal who used to live in Mr. Natsume's room, and the photograph is of the tenant who lived in the room in between the criminal and Natsume.
