Grandma's (Nut Sucking) Cake
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
½ tsp salt
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
½ cup shortening
1 cup of water
3 TBSP cocoa
2 eggs beaten
½ cup milk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare 9x11 cake pan with shortening/flour or non-stick baking spray.
In a large bowl combine flour, sugar and salt.
In a small bowl combine eggs, milk, baking soda, vanilla. Set aside.
In a small saucepan add butter, shortening, water and cocoa. Bring to boil. Pour over flour mixture and mix well.
Add contents of small bowl to large bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
Pour batter into 9x11 cake pan.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Icing
Ingredients
1 box of powdered sugar
1 stick of butter
3 TBSP of cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
6 TBSP milk
Pecan halves
In saucepan over medium heat combine all ingredients except pecans. Melt together stirring often. When smooth, add pecans and stir.
Use fork or knife to pole holes in warm cake. Pour icing over the top and allow to spread.
