Do you back roll? Yes I’m an advocate of airless paint spraying application — I spray interior woodwork (spray trim), spray ceilings (I don’t back roll ceilings). However sometimes, using a paint roller application makes sense on the walls.. Or you can back roll, for speed, ease of application and less clean up (no paint scuttle or roller tray is needed). I choose to back roll after airless paint spray application — if the wall is in critical light, maybe previous roller application texture exists, and if areas have been filled and sanded smooth. Back rolling quickly evens out the paint finish, adding a slight roller texture (I use a fine nap roller), reducing the risk of paint flashing. Spray paint and back roll technique 🤔 In the example of a previously painted wall, I’ll spray the first coat (for speed), let the coat fully dry and then spray and back roll the final coat — rolling in one direction, closing the nap of the roller 👍 See in the video how I ‘prime’ the roller first, dampening with water, then paint that I spray on brown paper — saves washing a paint scuttle or roller tray 😄
