The Health Authority is seeing an uptick in women asking about hormone blood tests, particularly as they approach menopause and perimenopause.

Dr Olivia Gonzalez of the GHA's Well Woman Clinic, attributes this to the amount of information being disseminated on the topic across social media.

However, she says misinformation is rife, and warns that we shouldn't take medical advice from people without medical credentials.

While hormone testing has a role to play, she says tracking your own body and symptoms is often far more useful in diagnosis.
