The government is pressing ahead with its ban on social media for under-16 year olds, with the legislation set to be introduced on Monday. | Subscribe: youtube.com/RNZVideo?sub_confirmation=1

The bill puts the pressure on social media companies to comply, establishing an online safety regulator and setting up a penalty regime.

"When you ask the young people themselves, nearly 40% say they wish social media had never been invented ... Our own kids are telling us this thing is doing them harm," Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said.
