Gov. Gavin Newsom is set to make his seventh trip to the South in the past three years as part of his "Take it Back Tour," according to a news release. He plans to visit more than 10 counties across three states in a matter of four days as part of a campaign to garner more Democratic support ahead of the midterm elections, which could determine the power balance in Congress. Newsom's past visits to the South involved raising money for other Democratic candidates, but this latest visit comes as speculation grows over the governor possibly launching his own presidential campaign. He terms out as governor after this year and cannot serve a third time under California law.
