Why did the Puppet save me?

I was wrong.
The Bad Ending takes a terrifying turn, leaving me trapped in a situation that seems impossible to escape.
Then...
The Puppet appears.
Instead of making things worse, the Puppet actually saves me.
But why?
Is the Puppet trying to help me uncover the truth?
