We rented an ATV and did several trails around Red River with my family.
Goose Lake was by far the most difficult to accomplish, but also the most beautiful payoff at the end with a gorgeous view. Round trip was 2.5 hours with very little time at the top to enjoy the scenery.
The trail up on an ATV is not for the faint of heart. One of our kids was convinced we were going to fall off the mountain, and had been totally comfortable on the other trails we did earlier that day (Cabresto Lake, Greenie Peak, Old Red River Pass). It is narrow and rocky. I think we met traffic at the worst possible spot and on our way up, had to back up on the narrow trail to let 5 other ATV's pass us who were going down.
This is worth it, but be forewarned of the difficulty!
