3rd World Man | "Google is Evil" a parody karaoke based on The Flaming Lips "If" from the album "Embryonic" @BlueRidgeParkway | Uploaded January 2014 | Updated October 2024, 57 minutes ago.
"Google is Evil" is my tribute to both Google and The Flaming Lips. Google has been arbitrarily and unfairly removing and/or restricting my videos, which are CLEARLY labeled as "parodies". Trying to get this point through to them is frustrating, time-consuming and usually futile.
Google's ENTIRE EXISTENCE is based on the premise of "fair use". That is how Google is able to show copyrighted material and images on Google Search Results pages. That same exception to the copyright law is also how Google scanned millions of books and posted excerpts online, without ANY permission from the authors and/or publishers. Google allows clearly infringing works to be published on YouTube, and then SELL ADS that show up in these videos! The vast majority of Google's revenue comes strictly from advertising.
Which makes it even more frustrating when they contest material that clearly falls into the "fair use" category, such as my parody videos. "Fair use" is how shows like Saturday Night Live, The Colbert Report, Jon Stewart and countless others are able to do their shows. Do they think that they contact all of the companies and individuals that they plan to do a skit on and get permission from them? Do they think that FOX NEWS gives permission to be slammed on one of these shows, or that the "Duck Dynasty" gave permission to use their picture in an inflammatory story? OF COURSE NOT! Google would CEASE TO EXIST of there was no exception for "fair use"
FAIR USE: Includes commentary, search engines, criticism, parody, news reporting, research, teaching, library archiving and scholarship. NOTICE how "search engines" was added to this list? WHO do you think pushed for THAT to be added to the Fair Use Doctrine?
PLEASE support Free Speech and Fair Use on YouTube! Challenge YouTube whenever they try to suppress free speech and fair use. I certainly DO NOT advocate copyright infringement, such as uploading entire movies, TV shows or music without the permission of the copyright holder. BUT if your work clearly falls into the "fair use" category, challenge Google and YouTube by fighting to keep your video online!
FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT EVERY MOMENT!
Thanks for watching! Please support The Flaming Lips--one of the greatest bands of all time! And PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to my channel! Cheers!
This parody karaoke is based on The Flaming Lips song "If" from the album "Embryonic". Support The Flaming Lips! Available on iTunes, Amazon and more! Check out two of the greatest albums of all-time, imho, from The Flaming Lips: "The Soft Bulletin" and "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots"
