Well with quite a heavy heart, after well over 40 years in service, we say goodbye to the last Intercity 125 HST's in public service. Cross Country have been the last operator of "full length" HST's capable of the designed 125mph, unlike the short ScotRail sets and GWR's castle sets both of which can only do 100mph.
Monday 18th September will be the final services in regular passenger traffic for XC.
On Tuesday 26th September Cross Country are running a HST farewell tour from Leeds to Swanage and back and on Friday 29th it will run from Plymouth to Blackpool & back both of these are private charters, which will require prebooked tickets to travel on them. After that they will be off lease and no longer operational.
