Life can present us with difficult moments and complex emotions. Video games offer a way for players to experience and be active participants in feelings and actions that they may not otherwise have the space to. When considering the challenge of working through something as tough as grief, is it possible to learn something valuable from video games? The answer is YES! This panel will discuss representations of grief and loss in a family-friendly space. By looking at “Beautiful games about loss” (GRIS, A Morticians Tale, God of War Ragnarök) it is clear grief and loss can be represented in a way free of stigma. Games like this can help us process and understand grief a little better. The expertise on this panel will discuss the things we can learn from these powerful games and apply them to our own lives and conversations. One of the most important lessons to remember - there’s no wrong way to feel or process, but remember you are not alone.
Panelists:
Christopher Leech (he/him)
Lisa "Crev" Creveling (she/her)
Dr. Celeste Sangiorgio (she/her)
Jenny "Kimchica" Windom (she/her)
PeachyAenne (they/them)
