PLEASE WATCH WITH HEADPHONES ON TO GET THE BEST OUT OF THE SOUND DESIGN. Filmed with the Kinefinity MAVO LF in 6K 25p at 50fps.

This is the third in my series of short films chronicling London during this unprecedented time.

The last one was filmed on the 24th of March which was the last time I left the house and the change was startling. I was pleased to see that Richmond, the area of London that I live in, was relatively quiet despite it being beautiful weather and the Easter Weekend. People were keeping their distance and there were almost no people just sitting around. I did see a number of police cars drive past who were obviously checking in this.

I wasn't planning on going out on Friday but I got a call from the news agency I’ve been doing occasional work for, to get some shots of Richmond to see how it compared to other parts of the UK. It feels weird filming news after not having done any for about a decade, but then again this is a unique time; also this was nice, quick and easy, just broll nothing more.

I was surprised to see so few people wearing masks, I had mine and I counted about 5 or 6 people who were wearing them the whole time I was filming. Not even homemade ones.

The section with the flooding is due to the high tide, the Thames bursts its banks frequently each month.

I kept my distance from people, mostly using the Canon 100-400 L lens, the other two lenses were the Canon 24-70mm F2.8mm and the 16-35mm F4.

Shooting at 25p 50fps was the perfect frame rate as I sped it up 2x to get normal speed footage to give to the agency whilst having the slow motion for my own edit.

The camera records audio no matter what frame rate it is in. I had a RØDE Video Mic NTG on the camera.

For this edit I enhanced the audio from that with additional foley and a stereo mix. The previous two edits have used no natural sound only music. I want each of the pieces to have a different feel and style to them, although it did mean about 10x more work than just cutting it to music.

Check out the superior quality 6K version on Vimeo which you can download too: vimeo.com/406644399

I probably won't do any more filming for a few weeks unless I get asked to. I will see how much things change then go from there.
