NOT-SO-DIY GOLF PUTTING/HITTING AREA PROJECT
In this video I share the evolution of my golf hitting/putting area at home. Up to the 2:01 part of this video, I had DIY'd this project. Fortunately after that, I had called in some professionals to install the putting surface "properly". It was a good thing that I called them when I did because they actually had to undo some of the stuff I did to do a proper install. You'll notice that I began to lay some gravel in the area. My plan was to compact the gravel, put sand over it and then lay the putting green mats on top. As it turns out, that would have been a huge mistake and over time, the sand would have seeped through the gravel and caused bumps on the surface. The professionals over at Evangeline Artificial Grass had to dig out all the gravel I had poured. After that, they took the time to really level the area as much as can be reasonably expected. I am very pleased with how this project turned out and am glad I called Evangeline Artificial Grass when I did. I highly recommend them if you ever want to have our own area laid out with artificial grass (for golf putting or otherwise).
For those who are interested, I spent USD460 on this project. This included the cost of the grass (USD380) and the labor (USD125) for the installation. The biggest contributor to the cost was the cost of the grass itself (USD34 per meter x 10 meters) which is specifically rated for golf putting. Had this not been a golf putting area and instead a space that I just wanted some artificial grass on, it would have cost much less. I'd say probably less than half but you can call the folks over at Evangeline Artificial Grass to get your own quote.
I hope this new setup will improve my golf game but either way, I'm having a blast being able to putt and swing at home! #SlicingPar #DIYweekends
Special thanks to Evangeline Artificial Grass and the crew that came over to help me complete this project!!!
