My friends, there are four characters hidden inside GoldenEye 007 that most players have never seen, and Rare never fully explained why they exist.
Three of them, the Biker, the 'Troublemaker', and a woman named Rosika, can be unlocked in multiplayer through a push button code. The first two may have once been intended for single player missions that were cut during development. Rosika may have been modeled after the cleaning lady at Rareware's real offices, a cottage in Twycross, England, though her in-code name tells a more complicated story.
The fourth character has no name Rare ever gave her. Players call her the Blue Lady. She appears in no level, no mission, and no multiplayer roster, she exists only in the deep code of the game itself, unexplained for nearly thirty years.
Today we're exploring all four: their origins, the evidence for who they may have been, and what they reveal about the small team who built one of gaming's most beloved titles.
