3 years ago today, Javi texted me and told me that Robin William's had committed suicide.
I know I'm not the first one to say this, but no celebrity death has affected me so much. His incredible personality, both inside and outside of his roles, touched so many and made us all feel like we knew him.
I was pretty messed up afterward, considering the fact that I never knew him in person. I think it was just knowing that he was such a strong light in the world but all the while was hurting so deeply inside. After all the things that he's done for other people, no one was able to reach him.
I spent quite a few weeks afterward watching all of his films, interviews, stand up; I started following his daughter on instagram to try to find a closer connection. But I learned that nothing will ever replace the incredible man that gave so much and received so little. So this is what came to be, three years later.
I didn't choose this song, but I think this was a perfect option for him. Even so, it was extremely difficult for me to do this part. I just couldn't seem to put it together right, no matter how much I tweaked it. I guess I put a lot of pressure on myself because I wanted it to be something that truly honored him. I hope it did.

I know it goes deeper than that and it's more than just feeling sad and wanting to end it, but I want to believe that there's more that we could do to move forward together.
