KGP GRAND PLACER Event Recap
A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us—on very short notice—for the KGP GRAND PLACER Event this Labor Day weekend! The turnout was incredible. In fact, it was so impressive that the U.S. Forest Service even stopped by to check in. No worries though—everything was 100% in order with all permits and policies.
Despite the overnight rain, 90% of you stuck it out, and we’re glad you did! Everyone went home with a free goody bag, complete with paydirt, and best of all—everyone found their own gold.
Looking ahead:
I’m planning to offer the KGP GRAND PLACER claim for 24-hour rentals, which will be available soon right here on the site under the Events tab.
Stay tuned—and thanks again for being part of such an epic weekend!

8/26/2025 - EVENT UPDATE
So far, everyone who submitted a waiver has been sent a permit through email.
If you didn't receive a permit, check your spam folders - or email me directly kleshkrums@gmail.com and I'll send your permit.
Weather: Chances of rain are now at about 45%, but in the mountains, weather changes very quickly. It can be sunny and hot then rain and cold out of nowhere - be prepared!
8/22/2025 - KGP GRAND PLACER Event Update – Aug 29–30, 2025
A couple quick updates before the event:
Weather: Slight chance of rain and cooler temps — bring rain gear, warm layers, and waterproof storage for gear.
Facilities: None within 10 miles — pack food, water, and essentials.
Parking: Main and overflow lots may fill. Additional pull-offs/forest lots are available along Hwy 125. Do not park on the paved highway shoulder — Rangers may ticket or tow. Parking is first-come, first-served and at your own risk.
Merch Table: Cash only. Paydirt for sale, raffle tickets for 5 special Custom Gold Nugget bags, and some basic prospecting gear (pans, snuffer bottles). First 50 attendees at my canopy get a goody bag.

8/16/2025 🚨 Event Update – Parking & Carpooling 🚨
The response to the KGP GRAND PLACER Gold Prospecting & Camping Event has been incredible — far more than expected in just the first few hours! 🎉
Current Status:
Original claim parking has reached capacity (first-come, first-served).
We now have overflow parking options:
Overflow 1: N40°13.642’ W106°03.429’ (~0.2 mi north of the claim)
Overflow 2: N40°12.050’ W106°02.102’ (~2 mi south – carpool recommended)
New signups will be placed on a waitlist. Permits are issued only if space becomes available.
Next Steps for Attendees:
If you’ve already received your permit via email, you’re confirmed to attend.
If you’ve submitted a waiver but haven’t received a permit, you are on the waitlist until parking/carpooling is finalized.
