He gets the boys and girls in town to meet one Friday night—
a rooftop ballroom under starry skies.

The sun in the sky hangs lowly. The kids all dance so slowly.
As Johnny and his band begin to play.
Julie shows up half past ten
in a plain, black dress her sister lent her.
Just in time to hear old Johnny say,

tears of joy. Her heart is flying.
Even if it’s for a moment,
the weight of worlds is off her shoulders.
Johnny hops down from that stage.
Through the crowd he makes his way.
