Presentation by Dr. Andrew Heidinger, scientist with NOAA's Advanced Satellite Products Branch who is stationed at the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS), University of Wisconsin-Madison. The presentation was one of five delivered at the CIMSS Science Symposium held on 6 May 2013.

Pathfinder Atmospheres Extended (PATMOS-X) is a satellite cloud data set from NOAA/NESDIS with many contributions from CIMSS. Originally an AVHRR data set, there is now experimental data from GOES and MODIS.
