I often get the argument that Isaiah 40:22 somehow confirms cosmic inflation with the statement that [God] "stretches out the heavens" as if that means that space is expanding. This interpretation requires that they ignore the rest of that verse. Which continues "... like a canopy and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in."
