After Atreus had awoken from his unconsciousness caused by the shockwave Ragnarök had created before everyone disappeared into the portal Fenrir and Angrboða opened up to escape the destruction of Asgard, he wanders the halls of the safe haven, speaking to others.
Then, he meets up with Angrboða, Fenrir, and Kratos, Angrboða guiding him and his father to a Jötunn Shrine up a mountain.
Once Kratos opened the shrine, both him and Atreus realize that it's Faye's—Kratos' wife and Atreus' mother—shrine which has connections to their prophecy.
Faye had intended on Kratos and Atreus finding their own path outside of what was in prophecy.
Atreus, knowing what needs to be done, speaks to his father, both coming to terms that it's time go seperate ways and explore the world in their own way.
