Skipping Skorpius for a New Game speedrun.
Hitting triggers in a certain order - as well as a tactical checkpoint/close application/load auto-save - prevents the game from crashing.
If you want to learn all the glitches, skips and glitch-techniques that my colleagues and I have found in this game. You can check-out our GoWIII Glitch FAQ: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/943928-god-of-war-iii/faqs/59988
Edit: make sure you only activate the Boreas device once when you first reach it, otherwise the game will crash when you try to enter the hatch of the Labyrinth, if you'd pressed it twice.
I'm currently playing through to see if the remaining Boreas mechanisms can be activated without the crystal. I'll edit this description when I find out, or I'll tweet it here: yes, the remaining Boreas mechanisms can be activated without the crystal. Skorpion has been successfully skipped.

Untested on PS3 at date of this upload (but I doubt it will work).
